Accelerating SAF Development in Africa: Findings and Recommendations
The transition to Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) offers significant opportunities for Africa to support aviation decarbonisation, create new value chains, and contribute to sustainable economic development. However, SAF deployment across the continent remains at an early stage and faces a range of technical, policy, financial, and infrastructure challenges.
Drawing on the final ICARUS deliverable, “SAF Development in Africa”, this webinar will present key findings and recommendations from an assessment closely co-developed with experts. The session will explore current opportunities, barriers to deployment, country readiness considerations, and actions that can support future SAF development across different African contexts.
Following the presentation of the findings, a moderated panel discussion will bring together experts and practitioners to reflect on the recommendations and discuss practical pathways for implementation.
